The 1st dream light weight tournament took place last Saturday the 15th in Tokyo Japan. The main event of the evening was a fight between Sinister Sponsored fighter and American Top Team member Gesias Calvancante against Japanese fighter Shinya Aoki.Instead of a hard fought battle between two talented athletes, we were witness to an unfortunate no contest when J.Z. hit Aoki in the back of the neck with a forearm strike. The crowd began to boo the Japanese fighter as they felt the strike was not hard enough to end the fight. Because Aoki now has 3 stopped fights he was scrutinized by both the media, and the crowd. J.Z. paced the 1st minutes of round 1 well, and seemed to be pressing the stand up game very well. At one point Aoki tried to jump into a triangle choke against J.Z. but was unsuccessful, and he ended on his back. This was the 1st time we saw J.Z. as the headliner of the Dream fight organization and unfortunately we didn’t get to see his true skill level. All in all it was a disappointment to the fans and most of all J.Z. who was well trained and ready to show case his skill set. The good news is J.Z. and his crew looked fresh in their one of a kind Jerseys made by Sinister Brand. Next time we look forward to seeing J.Z. walk away with a well deserved win, we support you brother better luck next time. Maybe we can do a 2 vs 2 with Anderson vs Okami , and J.Z. Vs Akoi for a sanctioned fight to show people the fight they missed.
