Unleashed Fighting March 22nd 2008, Joe Duarte and Pat Speight win in the 1st round. San Diego CA , was host to another great night of fights and good weather. There's a select few places you can wear sandals to the fight, and S.D is one of them. Pat Speight Pat Speight continues his impressive streak of wins Sat March 22nd by way of T.K.O due to a mean knee strike. Just teaching with words isn't enough for this MMA fighter; he likes to show by example. Although Pat's opponent was tough and ready to fight Pat was able to control the match in its entirety, both on the ground and standing. There were moments when his opponent was able to reverse positions with explosive power, but Pat can practice what he preaches. SP8MMA had a solid game with submission attempts that turned into sweeps, and striking that set up take downs. The match ended quickly when while clinched Pat landed a hard knee to his opponents dome piece and sent him to the canvas. Pat followed with some hammer strikes, but the ref stopped it and gave Pat a well deserved W for his record. Congratulations Pat your hard work paid off once again, now you move to 6-0. Joe "THE HYBRID" Duarte Joe "The Hybrid" Duarte wasn't short of supporters, I think at one point %50 of the crowd was made up of people from the Island of Guam. This was appropriate because, the Hybrid came out flying the Guam flag and Guam Pride on his T shirt. As he entered the ring you could see Joe was ready for this Fight. The fight went quick and didn't stay standing long. After trying to land a hard hook, the two fighters clinched. Standing in the clinch Joe used his knees to remind everyone of his Muay Thai skills. It's a good idea to not play the inside game with Joe, because after all he is undefeated in Kick boxing and hits like a brick. Just to make sure people knew how serious Joe is about his stand up he asked Sinister to make him some special Vale Tudo shorts paying tribute to the Spider. After a brief clinch the two went to the mat with Joe gaining positioning and softening his opponent with strikes. Eventually Joe ended up on his back, and after some hard shots went in for the choke, but at about the same time his opponent had, had enough and the fight was stopped and called a TKO. The Hybrid was a great sport as were all the fighters that night. After wards Joe stayed around to take pictures with his friends, family, and fans. Always a great guy Joe, congratulations on the win and we can't wait to see what's next.
